For over 25 years, leading the way in biodiversity conservation, ecological research, and responsible luxury tourism.This role is not just about guiding it is about stewardship, education, and creating transformative guest experiences in one of the world’s most unique wilderness environments.As a Field Guide, you will play a vital role in delivering world-class safari experiences while contributing to a long-term conservation vision that protects wildlife and habitats for future generations.Minimum Requirements2–5 years’ experience as a Field Guide or similar role in a game reserve or safari lodgeExperience within a luxury hospitality environment is preferredFGASA Level 2 (minimum) or equivalent qualificationLead Trails Guide qualificationValid PDP (Professional Driving Permit)Valid First Aid CertificateFirearm competency (advantageous or required depending on reserve regulations)Strong knowledge of flora, fauna, and ecological systemsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPhysically fit and comfortable working in outdoor environmentsRole PurposeTo deliver safe, informative, and highly engaging safari experiences that showcase wildlife, conservation principles, and the natural environment, in line with luxury hospitality standards.Key Responsibilities:Guest ExperienceConduct guided game drives and walking safaris safely and professionallyDeliver insightful interpretation of wildlife, ecology, and cultural contextCreate personalised and memorable guest experiencesSupport guest hosting duties including meals, transfers, and special requestsMaintain exceptional standards of professionalism, presentation, and communicationSafety & ComplianceEnsure strict adherence to all safety protocols during guiding activitiesConduct risk assessments before and during excursionsMaintain firearm competency and safe handling where applicableEnsure vehicles and equipment are maintained in safe working orderComply with all reserve, legal, and conservation regulationsConservation & Environmental StewardshipPromote conservation awareness and sustainable tourism practicesRecord and report wildlife sightings and environmental observationsSupport anti-poaching awareness initiativesEducate guests on biodiversity and ecosystem managementVehicle & Equipment ManagementPerform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checksMaintain cleanliness and presentation of safari vehiclesManage guiding equipment including radios, binoculars, rifles, and first aid kitsReport mechanical or equipment issues promptlyAdministration & ReportingMaintain accurate daily sightings and guest activity logsComplete incident and maintenance reports when requiredSupport research and data collection initiatives where applicableTeam CollaborationWork closely with trackers, lodge teams, and managementSupport interdepartmental guest service excellenceParticipate in ongoing training, briefings, and development programmesKey CompetenciesGuest-centric service mindsetStrong storytelling and interpretation abilitySound judgment and situational awarenessProfessional presentation and conductPassion for wildlife conservation and environmental protectionWhat We OfferOpportunity to work within one of South Africa’s most respected conservation brandsA meaningful role contributing to large-scale biodiversity preservationCompetitive remuneration and benefits packageA dynamic, collaborative, and purpose-driven working environmentThe chance to be part of a team creating lasting environmental impactIf you are passionate about wildlife, conservation, and delivering exceptional guest experiences in one of the most remarkable wilderness areas in the world, we invite you to apply.
